Make A Statement
A statement necklace can amp up the “wow” factor to any outfit, even something as simple as jeans and a tee. Love the way Karla incorporated a statement necklace into the look below, understated yet polished and chic:

Some of our favs are adorned with rhinestones, pearls, and satin ties.

And you can never go wrong with a great chunky chain.

Feline Instincts
I loved our Seeing Spots OOTD so much that I wanted to experiment with creating a leopard print pattern on my nails. Here is what I came up with:

You will need two nail colors, base coat, top coat, and any object that has a needle point.
1. Place a dot of the first color on a piece of paper.
2. Dip the needle point into the color and create dots of color on your nail.
3. Place a dot of the second color on a piece of paper.
4. Dip the needle point into the second color, draw lines around the circles and place dots in between the circles.
Don’t worry about neatness, the pattern isn’t supposed to be perfect. Once the nail is dry (wait about 15-20 min), paint the nail with a top coat.

Blue Had Me At Hello
Doing a regular smokey eye has been kind of boring as of late, so I decided to try something new. I didn’t want to go crazy spending too much on “experimental” makeup so I got the Wet and Wild palette BLUE HAD ME AT HELLO. I have to say I actually really like this palette and the colors are very pigmented for the cost, I was surprised. Check out a new eye look Keitha and I came up with for a smokey eye with a pop of color.

Jojoba Is Your Friend

Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) oil is a liquid wax that mimics human sebum (your skin’s natural oil). Using jojoba oil to moisturize your skin tricks your body into thinking your skin has produced enough oil thereby reducing the amount of oil your body produces (LiveStong). Weird right? Which means even if you have oily skin you can use this “oil” to moisturize.
It is also great at removing makeup since it breaks down all types of makeup quickly and easily. Whereas most oil cleansers on the market contain mineral oil (a by product of distillation of gasoline from crude oil). Mineral oil is a left over substance and can clog pores since it is not easily absorbed into the skin. Even if it is absorbed into the skin it may cause nutritional deficiencies (Herbal Luxuries). Long story short, jojoba oil good mineral oil bad.
Jojoba oil can also be used as an antioxidant and is hypoallergenic. Considering all of the benefits it is fairly inexpensive, I bought a 4oz. bottle at Trader Joe’s for $7. So, if you are in need of a good makeup remover or moisturizer try jojoba oil. And remember a few drops is all you need to moisturize your face or body parts.

Breaking Old Habbits

Changing skin care routines is always scary for me. Not only am I not very experimental but my skin is very sensitive and once my regimen is broken, it shows all over my face, literally! I finally built up enough courage to break away from Proactiv this month. I know the product is great and so many people swear by it; but after about six years of use, I feel like it’s not doing its job. My skin has been dull and uneven lately and I just needed a change.
After a trial period, I have come to love Biore Ice Cleanser. It is a little hard to find so I order mine from Amazon.com. It treats acne and helps lighten dark spots. I will admit the cooling affect feels a little like an icy hot patch but you get used to it. At night, I have also begun using my new MIA Clarisonic and I love it! Unfortunately, the MIA only has one speed so if you would need more options, the MIA 2 is probably a better option.
Overall, my skin is clearer and much more even in tone. I have seen some significant differences in just one month and I am so relieved I found something new that actually works for me!

Half And Half

To create the above look, gather the following items:

Tape, Nail Polish (two colors), Top Coat

1. Paint nails with base color.
Nails must be completely dry before moving on to step 2.
2. Apply a piece of tape in the shape or direction of your preference (I choose to apply the tape diagonally).
3. Paint nail with second color making sure you cover every part of the nail which is not covered with the tape.
4. Remove tape.
Repeat these steps to the remaining fingers or you can opt to accent the fingers of your choice.

It’s All In The Jeans

If you are looking for affordable drug store eyeshadow, look no further Wet n Wild has got you covered. I have bought several of their palettes and generally all of the shadows deliver good color payoff and offer great pigmentation. I loooove denim and as soon as saw the name and the colors of this palette I knew I had to have it.
I Got Good Jeans comes with three colors labeled according to how it should be placed on the eye. However, these rules are not set in stone since everyone’s eye shape and preferences differ. For example, I don’t like using eyeshadow on my brow-bone so, I always use the brow-bone shade to highlight my tear duct area. Don’t be shy do your thing it’s only makeup ;)
Here is the look I created:

Pros: Colors are true to shade and look great together.
Cons: I experienced a lot of “fall out” when using the blue crease color.
